So here's the challenge - you want, no, make that "need", preparation photos to tie the whole wedding day together (It just doesn't work to start an album out with photos of the bride walking down the aisle). But at the same time you want to look good - and, let's face it, no one really looks all that good with half their makeup on. You look better with none at all or with it all done.
So what to do? This:

The trick to photographing preparation shots is to capture the essence of the prep. You want the audience to understand there was prep. going on and it was a blast, but you don't need to get all explicit in the shots to do that. Here's a good example of how to make that preparation time both interesting to the viewer and yet keep some of your dignity. ; )
