David and Gina

David and Gina got married in Menlo Park at a Catholic church followed by a reception at the Menlo Circus Club.  This excited us a lot when we heard about it as we imagined lions and trapeze artists mingling with clowns and bearded women.  Unfortunately (probably fortunately, actually) this wasn't the case.  The place was a very well-respected polo grounds, completely devoid of gypsies or the aforementioned bearded women.  Oh well.. ; )

So I should let you know what this blog is really all about.  It's not really about shots of cakes, or flying bouquets.  No, it's really about moods and fashion and trying to create images that you might find in W magazines, rather than Martha Stewart Weddings.  Yep - this might indeed be a flop.  But risks are important so here goes.

I'll call this set Bocce Bride (originality is my strong suit).  I wanted to create a sorta retro feel so I post-processed this to look like it was taken a while ago.  I think Gina enjoyed this - though I know her dad was really wondering about me at this point.

These images were taken before Bocce Bride - Here I wanted to create something that's glamourous and moody and (ahem) slightly out of focus.

Diane and Steve's Wedding

Diane called me about a week before her wedding and asked if I was available to shoot.  Pretty gutsy, as most brides book me about 9 months in advance.   I actually was available and pretty interested in working with such a unique client.   Diane and Steve were highly creative, transforming an ordinary barn into a sheik, hip lounge which housed a truffle adorned wedding cake and a full bar.  I'm glad I got the call the week before.

They were married at the Healdsburg Country Gardens.  This is a great spot to have one-location wedding (preparation, wedding, reception) as they have a quaint little cottage to get ready in, fantastic grounds for the ceremony and a gorgeous reception area - complete with that barn they turned into a hip lounge.

And to top it off there's also a vineyard - perfect to use for some shots of just the two of you.
